The City of Encinitas is looking for qualified professionals to fill in the job opening for seasonal ocean lifeguard this summer. The deadline for application is on May 15, 2013 at 10:00 in the morning.
The job includes safeguarding the beach and ocean waters, detecting and rescuing persons or vessels in distress, enforcing beach regulations, providing assistance to persons at the beach, teaching ocean rescue techniques, providing beach first aid, assisting the children in the Junior Lifeguard Program regarding their use of rescue boards and other equipment, as well as performing all related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
There will be a physical test to be held at the Moonlight Beach Lifeguard Headquarters at 9:00 in the morning on April 20th and May 15th. This includes a 500-meter ocean swim in less than 10 minutes, a paddleboard test, dummy rag of 50 feet in 30 seconds (165 lbs.), and a CPR drill (applicants who do not have a current CPR certification will all be tested on a specified date). All applicants must have completed an application form, presented a California Driver’s License along with a photo copy, and submitted a Certificate of Completion or Proof of Current Enrollment in Intro to Open Water Lifeguarding/Lifeguard Academy on the day of the test.
The salary rate for this job position is $14.74 to $20.94 per hour. This is a contractual post.
